Hello, VoteRescuers on this day of remembrance,

This is a last minute reminder that tonight at 9 pm CST on HBO there
will be a repeat showing of the made-for-HBO movie, "Recount", which is
about the story of the Florida 2000 recount and the related court
proceedings that took the decision of who won the election all the way
to the Supreme Court.

You might consider watching it if you have access to a TV with HBO. I've
heard from several folks in the election integrity movement today who
saw it last night and say it does a pretty decent job presenting the
story. The major draw backs, however, are that it (1) ends by leaving
the viewer with the impression that our electoral and judicial systems
still "work" just fine and (2) does not include anything about the
National Opinion Research Center's (NORC) counting of _all_ the
remaining rejected ballots during the year right after the election.
Their result - that Gore /actually won/ the popular vote in Florida -
was released in November 2001 and was totally lost in the chaos after
Sept. 11. To this day, not very many Americans know this. What a huge
missed opportunity that this fact - and the purging of 50,000 eligible
Florida voters from the registration rolls - didn't get mentioned.
