Dear Voting Integrity Workers:

The letter that Verifiedvoting.org urges others to sign and send to Governor Corzine states optical scanners are proven technology. I sent them a letter stating this is not true and sent a letter for their review as a possible replacement for the form letter provided. I also sent my concern to the Governor. Here is another letter I fashioned. It only lacks the documentation about G.A.O. report, Brennan Law Center, MIT, etc. which was in their original on line. The letter online and comments such as those below can be melded.

Protect New Jersey Veto Assembly Bill 2229

I Iive outside New Jersey and am alarmed that elections may proceed without the ability to be audited or properly recounted.
I urge you to work with lawmakers to pass legislation mandating, in time for November 2008, a voting system that produces the most reliable form of voter- verifiable paper record: the paper ballot. However, an important point needs to be made. While optical scanners do provide voters with the use of a paper ballots which they fill out, both scanners, which utilize paper ballots, and paperless electronic voting systems have been demonstrated to be insecure. Both methods have been 'hacked'.

Paper ballots, hand counted at the precinct level, the night of the election, in public view is a method that has been successfully accomplished. It saves tax payer money while protecting voting rights. Videotaping this process and the results further insures results are not being tampered with, thus providing confidence and stability in the election process. Sufficient volunteers are utilized election night for the effort and use of a "jury duty" type system has been suggested to enlist all the support necessary.

We can function properly at local and state levels by electing individuals we want to represent us. We can thus avoid the awful prospect of having elected officials above us placed there by manipulation of voting "technology". Once corruption is installed how will we ever "vote" it out?
Protect New Jersey. No one else can but you.
