[Voterescue] IMPORTANT FOLLOW-UP TO "One-Party Texas Counties??!"

VoteRescuers,

I was a bit too quick in sending out the previous message about the
one-party counties in Texas. David Rogers, one of our longtime
supporters, sent me the following message explaining why this may have
occurred. We'll be checking into all this and get back to you with a
follow-up report. So, you might consider not sending this story out to
others until then. Thanks!

Karen

This is unsurprising.

There are 254 counties in Texas. Many of them are sparsely populated.
A number of them have no county chairmen (particularly on the Republican
side). With no county chairman, there is no one to organize or run a
primary.

Perversely, some of the counties with no Republican chairmen
consistently go Republican at the top of the ticket in November, but all
the local officials are Democrats.
