Hi VoteRescuers! Forgive the late notice, but you will not want to miss
tomorrow nite's VoteRescue meeting! (6:30 to 8:30pm, Brave New Books,
1904 Guadalupe, Austin, TX) Penny Langford Freeman, who worked with Ron
Paul for 10 years as his scheduler and campaign manager, has announced
(on VoteRescue Radio) that she will be doing an "exploratory survey" to
determine whether or not she may run for Governor of Texas in 2010. All
indications and feedback thus far (though unofficial) have been quite
good. Penny will be at our meeting with colleagues Carol Jones and
Margie Raborn (all of whom were on VoteRescue Radio with me and Karen
last Friday), and Penny will be speaking to our group about her vision
for Texas, should she become our next governor! We will also be
"debriefing" about the amazing witnesses at the e-voting hearing at the
Capitol on June 25th. Our heartfelt "THANKS!" to all of our wonderful VR
volunteers who helped with our breakfast and reception. A special huge
"Thank You" to Nancy Robbins, who was the overall coordinator of the
events and for the travel/hotel arrangements for our guests. TWO MORE
THINGS:: One of our most dedicated (and talented!) VoteRescuers, Barbara
Kooyman (aka: "Barbara K") AND: RICH BOWDEN will be performing at her
CD release party Wednesday nite at Cactus Cafe! BARBARA K's GHOSTS &
SPARROWS TAKE FLIGHT AT CACTUS CAFEUnreleased CD Party Sparks New Career
Path For Former Member of Timbuk3
Student UnionUniversity Of Texas Campus Wednesday, July 16th, 8pm
Barbara K (Kooyman) is stepping out, and, for the first time, bearing her
soul's evolution as a recording artist, writer and entertainer with an
unreleased CD,Ghosts And Sparrows - Relative Truth. She celebrates it's
creation with a very special performance at the Cactus Cafe on Wednesday,
July 16, 2008. She will be joined by fiddler extraordinaire (and
VoteRescuer!) Richard Bowden. And IT'S FREE. Thats right: no cover, with
the new CDs available only at the show.
Barbara's legendary career inTimbuk3 inspires young musicians to this
very day, and, though'Timbuk 3'is history,Barbara's future still burns
bright. Among many ambitious projects is the imminent launch of Artists
for Media Diversity, a vehicle that will offer talented recording artists
who are often ignored by mainstream corporate radio a legitimate chance
to find an audience. That alone presents a rosy future, but now it's
Barbara's turn to play for that audience. Let's all get out there and
support Barbara and her excellent music!!! Hope to see you there! AND:
If you haven't already, but do have some time to volunteer to sit at a
table during the upcoming "Netroots" (Bloggers' Convention) at the
Convention Center this Thursday through Saturday, please e-mail me back
and let me know what days/times you may have available. This is an
amazing opportunity to get the VoteRescue message out there to bloggers
from all over the country (and possibly, other countries!) Thanks for
all of you who have already done so! THANK YOU! Vickie (and Karen)
