Does your vote count?
Re: July 5 article "Texas sticks with electronic voting."
I'm amazed that Texas election officials cling to the proven, failed
electronic voting machines, though no one is allowed to review the
proprietary source code that runs them.
At a recent hearing, independent computer security experts exposed
numerous risks in the programming, certification and use of all
e-vote election systems. They all strongly recommended a paper ballot
election system to ensure the best security of our votes.
California and Ohio produced thorough reviews of e-voting systems and
switched to paper ballots based on results. Yet our election
officials ignore expert witnesses' dire warnings and unrefuted
evidence of e-vote failures.
Admit we bought lemons. Issue a recall and give a refund to all the
counties that bought e-vote machines.
Hand-counted paper ballots cost 10 times less than corruptible
e-voting machines and are the most reliable.
