If you do not have time to call, you can also email. Here’s what I sent my congress-critter…

Congressman,

HR 811, Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2007, creates a false sense of security in our voting systems. A printed ballot by a computerized voting machine does not have to match the internal counting of the vote. How does a voter know his vote counted?

We should not depend on audits or recounts because of the cost and time elements making them less likely and even possible. We should depend on the 100s of years of hand-count history where ballots are counted at the precinct in public view, results posted at the precinct, and results reported to the local officials for further consolidation of the vote. This method is cheaper and vastly more secure.

This bill also creates a new authority for reviewing electronic voting machines and only these experts can review machines under confidentiality agreements. This validates secret vote counting and this is crazy.

A Zogby poll showed 92% of Americas do not want secret voting. Computer voting has not developed to a point of trust for this Republic.

Vote against unaccountable elections by voting against HR 811. This is a fundamental issue for everyone.

Will your vote count?

Thanks,
