To all VoteRescuers and their friends,
As you all know, VoteRescue is a non-partisan organization, but when a great ad comes along touting a particular political party, it's hard to resist the urge to throw this all out the window.
I couldn't resist.
Take a brief moment from all your calls to Washington today (and tomorrow morning) telling them to vote NO on HR 811, the "Vote Con Act", a.k.a., "Microsoft 811", and 'enjoy' a little Aussie humor. Hopefully this will get you to keep those phones ringing off the hook.
If you are a constituent of Lamar Smith, his number is 202-225-4236. Ask to speak with Ashlee Vinyard and please mention you are with VoteRescue and the coalition Texans for REAL Elections. To find out who your Rep is, go to www.congress.org. If you need a refresher about how bad the bill is, go to http://www.votersunite.org/info/hr811Report.pdf for a thorough overview, "Seven Serious Failaures in the Latest Holt Election Reform Bill" by Ellen Theisen. Also, keep in mind, even the bill's author, Rush Holt, has said, "It's no longer my bill..." declaring that the software industry lobby won over the rights of the People!
The link to the ad is below.
...But, while you are on BradBlog, take a few extra minutes to read Brad's updates about HR 811. (Please note: Whereas Brad Friedman advocates supporting the bill if the DRE-ban amendment is attached, there are too many other negative impacts if this bill passes even with the ban.) To get to his website's home page from the video to read his latest entries about HR 811, click on the BradBlog logo in the upper left corner of the page.
