Re: [Voterescue] I can't believe I touched that machine!!Hey Kathy, You're right! I wish I would have had VR lit. to give to them. I think they were shocked that I would respond the way I did. I was shocked to find those machines in place of the paper ballots I had always voted on. I really can't blame the workers since they are doing what they're told and possibly most of them don't know (self imposed ignorance perhaps?) how corrupt the electronic voting system really is. Yes you can buy the voters registration of Travis County but I think it's a little expensive.

  Vickie and Karen,

Do we have any recourse in a case like this? Who decides FOR us on these machines?

I think we each should be prepared to give VR literature to all those glassy eyed precinct workers, and to everyone else who walks in to vote!

Can we buy the mailing list of voters in Travis County and send a mass mailing to all of them about the problem and solution?

  Kathy

I have been voting since I was 18. In the last 38 years I have always voted on paper ballots. I always vote early to avoid the rush. I walk into my early voting station in dist. 147 on El Salido expecting to see the comforting sight of tables, chairs, the cardboard separators for privacy and my beloved paper ballots. Alas, what do I see but eight, count 'em 8 electronic voting machines! What happened to the paper ballots I ask? "Oh we have the new machines and we're going to teach you how to use them and you're going to love them." (said the spider to the fly) Yes, ladies and gentlemen that's what the election official said. I then explained to the election official that I would not like voting on his machine since I belong to a voter reform group that is fighting tirelessly to get rid of the nasty little creatures and bring back paper ballots counted in public view. They all looked at me with little smiles and glazed eyes. Needless to say I had a queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach as he was showing me how to vote the new fangled way. Yes I did vote today on that nasty little machine thinking that not voting at all would be worse than taking my chances with this one armed bandit..........and so it goes
